Technology Network (ALTN)
ALTN provides leadership in the application and use of technology
to enhance international adult literacy by means of conferences,
training, technical assistance and communication media.
The
Office of Vocational and Adult Education (OVAE)
OVAE supports a wide range of programs and activities that help
young people and adults obtain the knowledge and skills they need
for successful careers and productive lives.
The
Professional Development Kit (PDK)
Multimedia Resources for Instructional Decision Making (PDK) is
a new system to provide sustainable teacher improvement for adult
basic education, GED, and English as a Second Language educators.
Community
Technology Centers
Community Technology Centers promote the development of model programs
that demonstrate the educational effectiveness of technology in
urban and rural areas and economically distressed communities.
Literacy
Link
Literacy Link is a PBS Web site providing products and services
for adult learners and their teachers. Available resources include
the Workplace Essential Skills video series, GED online prep course,
practice test and video series; an online dictionary, journal, calculator
and goal planner as well as LitTeacher teaching tools and other
resources for teachers.
National
External Diploma Program (NEDP)
The NEDP is a high school diploma program that credentials adults
who have acquired their academic skills through life experience.
Unlike traditional examinations, where test-takers are usually timed
and tested in one day, EDP asks candidates to demonstrate their
high school-level ability in a series of assessment tasks completed
at home or in private office visits. This project brings EDP online.
Small
Business Innovation Research Program
The Department of Education administers several projects as part
of The Small Business Innovation Research Program, including the
AT Work! Office Work Environment Simulation to Assist Youth in Making
the Transition from School to Work.
Crossroads
Café
Crossroads Café is an Intelecom product focusing on ESL and
family literacy. Materials include print resources and a 26-part
video series.
